CID owns Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre on behalf of the Crown and is responsible for its long-term stewardship.

As Crown owner, CID works closely with operator Legends Global to ensure Te Pae is maintained to a high standard and continues to deliver strong public value.

The venue was named Oceania's Leading Meetings and Conference Centre at the World Travel Awards 2025. That recognition reflects not only its facilities and service, but the disciplined asset and facilities management CID applies as owner.

The facility

The $450 million centre has capacity for up to 2,000 delegates, with a 1,400-seat auditorium, 2,800m² of exhibition hall and 24 meeting rooms.

Since opening in December 2021 it has exceeded expectations. In 2024/25 alone it hosted 210 events and welcomed more than 80,000 visitors. Independent analysis shows the centre generated $77 million in GDP and supported nearly 700 full-time equivalent jobs nationwide, with most of that impact concentrated in Canterbury. Delegate feedback remains strong, with 91 percent of attendees saying they would recommend the venue.

Te Pae holds AIPC Gold Certification, Toitū Net Carbon Zero status and ISO certification.
