CID is leading the next stage of the redevelopment of Wellington Girls’ College on behalf of the Ministry of Education, as part of the National Seismic Resilience Programme.
This project is one of CID’s most significant education sector engagements under a fee-for-service model.
In April 2026, students reoccupied the upgraded upper levels of Brook Block, following five months of physical work to strengthen and modernise the building while the school continued operating around the works.
The Brook Block works included seismic strengthening alongside a new warm roof, replacement windows and refreshed interiors. The project involved around 35 tonnes of steel, more than 35,000 hours of work and over 240 people on site across a wide range of trades.
The Brook Block upgrade sits within an approximately $36M programme at the College for new teaching and administration spaces, a replacement school hall, removal or relocation of modular and end-of-life prefabricated buildings and restoration of the school field.
Work on the next stage of the redevelopment is expected to begin during Term 4 2026.
This investment will create modern, safe and inspiring learning environments for generations to come. It reflects CID’s commitment to delivering critical infrastructure that supports education and strengthens community resilience.
